Don’t be afraid to make the first move: Do “traditional” dating rules apply in online dating (i.e. men make the first move)? Truthfully, we don’t think traditional dating rules should apply in offline dating. If you are interested in someone, make a move.
Use optimistic language. In our experiment, we found that certain words ("fun", "happy") made profiles more popular. Talk about what excites you, or paint a picture of a really great day that you would want to be a part of. Would you date you?
Take it slow. People have different commitments in their lives, and online dating isn’t always at the very top. Sometimes you’ll receive responses right away. But, most of the people don’t have time to answer every single message they receive in their inbox. You just need to have the patience to find "that" person, wherever they are.
You don't need to tell everyone everything. You're just starting out, so it's OK to only reveal a little bit because you have no idea who these people are or how this thing works and it's kind of scary! Just write what you'd feel comfortable sharing with a stranger at a bar.
Use good quality photos – All your photos should be clean, focused and most important is that it must feature you.
Upload a travel or hobby related photo. We suggest this because everyone looks so rested and relaxed on vacation, or maybe it’s because it’s another great conversation starter. Either way, adding a vacation or hobby related photo to your profile can get you up to 8% more messages.
We are doing our best to create a safe, secure environment so you’ll feel 100% confident throughout the entire experience with us. That’s why we review every profile and photo on Social Lux before it’s ever posted.
Don’t give out your number. Wait until you know someone a little better before you share your contact details. If someone asks for your number straight away, we suggest you to politely decline.
Report unwarranted and inappropriate behaviour. If you encounter a member that has been rude to you, do not hesitate to report them to the Customer Support team using the report button on their profile.
